Modern medical treatments: Laser skin treatment and its adverse side effects.

Skin treatments these days are getting as important as other medical treatments. One of them is the laser hair removal treatment which is now considered to be a part of it however it is not an ailment in medical terms but the world of glamour has increased its importance. One important factor that people do not consider is the side effects of the medical treatments. Every medical treatment has one or more side effects. Similar is the case with the skin treatments. It’s side effects occur on the skin. Some can be temporary and some can be permanent. The probability of having a temporary side effect of the laser treatment is much higher that that of the permanent.

Pain, scorching, puffiness, redness, nuisance, hyper pigmentation is some of the temporary side effects which are results of the laser and these can last for weeks or months to recover. Some of them are experienced during the treatment. The feeling of pain or soreness near the treating area is complaint during the process and can be eased by prescribing OTC or some other drugs or ointments like creams at the present time. These discomforts depend on the area that is treated. This kind of redness or swelling can be related to sunburn which can last for some hours. However the puffiness can be painful or embarrassing are not felt comfortable as they are viewed to be blisters. So the people are suggested to take a laser treatment when they are not scheduled to be exposed at maximum to other people.

The other most important side effect is the hyperpigmentation. Mostly the area affected can be easily covered by a makeup but it is suitable only if it is temporary but if it exists permanent, it can cause problems. So those which are having the laser treatments should have an overview of these side effects.

Now having a look on the permanent side effects are the discoloration of the skin, scars and burn marks. Talking about the discoloration, this side effect is said to have an emotional effect rather than being painful. This discoloration can be occurred by the effect of the laser on the black pigments of the skin as the wavelength of the laser is much greater than other lights and can penetrate through the skin giving deep skin damage. Scars are resulted rarely as they can occur if the doctor is not trained well for giving this treatment. So it is considered to consult an experienced person for this treatment. Burns are also resulted rarely. Similarly this occurs when the treatment is given by a novice.

Concluding, the treatment should be taken from a well experienced and skilled person or called the professionals. This reduces the risk of the permanent side effects as mentioned earlier. One important factor that can give one a side effect is the abnormal hormonal changes in a person and it should be considered firstly. People who get this treatment are suggested to avoid tanning or sun exposure for several weeks before the treatment.
