Perimenopause- What Causes It To Occur

Menstrual cycle is a very common condition of the female reproductive system and is headed by perimenopause. Basically this latter situation consists of certain uncomfortable symptoms which occur because the hormonal levels of the female body become unbalanced. After the start of menstrual cycle, the perimenopause can continue for about ten years or even more till the advent of menopause. Depending on the physical condition, diet, prescriptions and genes of the females, this process can be prolonged or shorten. This article will clarify certain significant aspects associated with perimenopause like its symptoms, how do these symptoms occur in the body and finally a brief description of the treatments available for this painful situation.

As far as the occurrence of perimenopause, it differs with the age of the females. Some females start having menopause in early thirties, so perimenopause occurs before that. Irregularity in periods is considered to be the onset of perimenopause. However early thirties is a very young age for the arrival of this condition.

Even though the symptoms connected with this condition are numerous, but hot flashes and night sweats are thought to be the most crucial ones in this context. They are quite similar; the only difference is that hot flashes occur in day time while night sweats occur at night. In both these situations the body temperature enhances all of a sudden and the person starts sweating abundantly. Restless leg syndrome, in which the skin of legs is continuously felt to be scratchy, is another symptom of perimenopause. Furthermore, the person may also suffer from mood swings, nausea, dizziness, aching joints, thinning of hair, etc. These symptoms also vary from woman to woman, with some having less symptoms while others having a lot of these symptoms.

Even though there are many contributing factors to the situation of perimenopause, but decreased levels of the female hormone- estrogen is primarily responsible for the onset of this condition. Keeping this in view, the researchers have formulated many treatments to increase the amount of estrogen in the female body. Having medications or hormonal therapies are the two most common treatments for perimenopause, but they are not as preferable as the natural therapies because of the higher risks of side effects. For instance, if a woman selects hormonal therapy she becomes a victim to many other disorders as well because of the addition of artificial hormones in the body. She develops increased chances of having heart attack, breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and many other malfunctions as well. In order to overcome these problematic issues, you must regularly consult your physician so as to become knowledgeable regarding different therapies and their after effects. Choosing the right doctor is also very helpful in dealing with this issue as a good doctor will thoroughly go through your case and will prescribe the best remedy as well.
